I'd still love you even if you were a weird psychic, y'know.
— Mr. Puckett to Max Puckett (Chapter 4, Page 55)

Peter Puckett[2] is a character in Paranatural. He is the father to Maxwell and Zoey Puckett, widower of Mrs. Puckett, and the eccentric owner of the Corner Store.

At the beginning of Chapter 1, he wears a black Insolent Children merchandise t-shirt and blue jeans. At the end of the chapter, he is seen wearing a black logoless t-shirt and a grey hoodie wrapped around his waist. In Chapter 3, he wears a plain, bright red t-shirt. In Chapter 4, he wears a grey t-shirt depicting the words "Night Church" alongside a red devil logo. In Chapter 5, he wears a green shirt depicting the words "#1 MOM".

Personality[]

Mr. Puckett is incredibly eccentric in his every day life, from his interactions with his kids to his owning a convenience store, which he's stated was his dream job. Despite his flaws, he loves his children very much.

Chapter 1[]

The comic opens with Mr. Puckett introducing his children to the Corner Store, their new home in Mayview, proclaiming that it's "been [his] life's dream to own a store like this one"[3] They enter the store, where Zoey immediately runs to explore while Max notes the empty shelves. Mr. Puckett reassures him that the supplies is being shipped in tomorrow.

Mr. Puckett then takes the children upstairs, where the movers have unpacked their belongings. As Zoey declares that the house has "everything"[4], Mr. Puckett takes out a photo of Mrs. Puckett with a baby Zoey and Max and places it on a desk. After a prolonged moment of silence, Mr. Puckett offers to buy the children pizza, which they both agree to.

Later that night, Mr. Puckett can be seen snoring on the coffee table next to a box of pizza while Max prepares to enter his room.

In the morning, Max wakes up to find that he is, according to his father, 39 minutes late on his first day at Mayview Middle School. Downstairs, Max demands to know why Mr. Puckett didn't wake him up, to which he responds that he was playing with the cash register. As Mr. Puckett offers his son candy for lunch, Max dumps the nearest shelf of food into his backpack before taking off on his scooter.

At the end of the chapter, Max returns home to find Mr. Puckett and Zoey swordfighting with a toy light-saber and a broom, respectively. Mr. Puckett asks his son how school was; after a moment, Max replies, "..Uh.. Pretty cool, I guess."[5]

Chapter 2[]

After Gorf is defeated, his spirit floats upstairs, where Mr. Puckett lays snoring in bed. Gorf briefly considering possessing him, then decides against it and floats back downstairs.

Chapter 3[]

The morning after Gorf's attack, Mr. Puckett and Zoey speculate over the cause of the bloody marks and cracked glass on one of the store's walk-in cooler doors (left by Max's nose and a hurled soup can, respectively).

Chapter 4[]

The chapter opens with Zoey returning upstairs with pizza to Max and Mr. Puckett playing Monopoly, which the latter had already lost at twice. After being alerted about the trio of shoplifters downstairs by P.J., Max decides to confront them as Mr. Puckett squeezes his pizza slice into Zoey's cup of soda.

Later on, before leaving the house to join Mr. Spender in his mission to escort his friend at the town barrier, Max finds his father at the counter and asks him whether they could visit their old hometown of Baxborough over the weekend. Mr. Puckett tells him that he'll see whether he can make plans before Max leaves the store.

Chapter 5[]

At the start of the chapter, Mr. Puckett announces to Max that he's arranged for a day trip to Baxborough on the upcoming weekend. Knowing he can no longer leave town due to the Ghost Train being out of commission, Max nervously tells Mr. Puckett that he can't go before leaving to shower.

Later on, after being informed by Collin Sloinne that he could be suspended for jumping through a school bus, Max briefly imagines his father as a snakelike creature, constricting him as Zoey watches on with a candle.

Chapter 6[]

After escaping his house, Stephen stops by the Corner Store to purchase a drink from Mr. Puckett, who is shown giving Zoey a thumbs-up as she leaves for school.

Quotes[]

Mr. Puckett: "You'd better be ready by eight o'clock, Zoey. In Mayview, they send tardy kids to the mines."
Zoey: "It's 8:15, my bus isn't here yet, and you're a LIAR, Dad."
— Mr. Puckett and Zoey (Chapter 1, Page 28)
"OK, theory number six. In some sort of diabolic housewarming ritual, Mayview's local death cultists use an improvised splash n' slide... ...to repeatedly slam their faces... into the number eleven. Written in goat's blood. Because eleven is a prime number. That's a math thing, Zoey, look it up. Death cultists love math."
— Mr. Puckett (Chapter 3, Page 2)
Zoey: "I don't get it."
Mr. Puckett: "Ha ha. You'll understand when you're smarter."
Zoey: "Don't you mean older?"
Zoey: "...Don't you mean older?"
— Zoey and Mr. Puckett (Chapter 3, Page 2)
Max: "WHAT!? ...in the world do we sell glitter for?"
Mr. Puckett: "It's used as a spice by deep vegans, or so I'm told. Why do you ask?"
— Max and Mr. Puckett (Chapter 4, Page 3)
