The Journalism Club is tasked with running the unofficial school newspaper, The Newzy with Suzy,[6][7] and currently consists solely of Suzy, Collin Sloinne, and Dimitri Danger.[8] The club also has an unseen advisor who Dimitri describes as "hands-off", to Suzy's contempt.[2]. This advisor is later revealed as being Suzy's affectionate but embarrassing father, Mr. Starchman, who she holds in deep disdain due to his eccentricity and absurd antics[9].
Suzy joined the club in sixth grade, where her first assignment was to write an article about the school's organizations; however, she submitted it incomplete after being unable to find information on the Activity Club.[10] As a former member of the Activity Club, Dimitri is shown sabotaging Suzy's continued investigation of its true purpose,[11] likely to prevent her from discovering the world of spectrals.
The club often resorts to underhanded tactics to obtain news, including blackmailing students,[7] contriving sources to report on,[12][13] and purchasing information from information broker Lisa.[13] The newspaper itself is printed on a double-sided sheet and appears to be low-quality in both design and content, which Suzy claims is due to their restrictive budget.[7] The paper is implied to have low readership; Dimitri mentions that "no one cares what [they] write anyways",[13] and one of its articles is shown to be titled "Why We Are Relevant Even Tho Nobody Thinks We Are".[7]
Trivia[]
- The issue shown on Chapter 5, Page 39
is formatted to be read right-to-left. The page's alt-text states that this is "because double sided printing is hard, and to tap into them sweet manga dollars".
